VTG Green Gold Long Stemmed Mid Century Optic Glass Tall Compote-Italian Empoli Up for your consideration is this mid-century optic glass stunning green with gold highlight long stemmed compote. Made in Empoli, Italy this has a smooth stem and a scalloped edging. It has diamond basket weave ribbed panel sides to the bowl. It measures 8 1/2" tall x 4 1/2" in diameter across the top opening and 4" across the base. I see no cracks or chips. It as an exquisite and is called the diamond basket weave design. The gold highlights come out in the light. Glass making in Empoli dates back to the fifteenth century. In the second half of the 18th century, Domenico Lorenzo Levantini established a factory to produce glass and majolica near Porta Pisana. Utilizing the Levantini kiln, Francesco Del Vivo and Michele Ristori established a glass factory in 1830. Production continued until 1984. #Empoli #Vintage #Compote #Italian
