VTG FRANK OLIVE "FRANK'S GIRL" WIDE-BRIM STRAW HAT

A vintage 1960's straw hat from Frank Olive in a natural color tightly woven straw with a pastel pink crepe fabric topping the brim and shashed around the crown. It has a touch of elegance with the spray of florals on the back in lavender and pinks and a green ribbon. The interior has a green grosgrain band with the label intact. The brim is 4.25", crown height is 4" and the interior circumference is approx 21.5". The only flaw I find is a small crack in the straw on the underside of the brim which wouldn't show if wearing or displaying. Frank Olive (1929-1995) began in theater designing costumes and found his niche in hats owning his own boutique; he collaborated or designed for Oscar de la Renta, Lillie Rubin and Pauline Trigere. His hats were sold in Bon Wit Teller, Neiman Marcus, Saks Fifth Avenue and I.Magnin. A Frank Olive quote "A hat is basically a prop it gives you a moment of joy, mystery and fantasy".
