Vintage and historic for Men or Women Collectors! Ball Band War Worker (WWII) Sterling Pin w/ Black, Red, & Silver Enamel Work, 1/2" Diameter
This sterling pin is a must have for collectors of World War II memorabilia. It pays tribute to the thousands of factory workers at the Ball Band Company in Indiana who worked to support the war efforts. The front of the pin features enamel work with a Red Ball in the center, the company's trademark, encircled by a silver wreath. The outer edges have the words Ball Band War Worker in silver. The back of the pin is marked STERLING.
The pin is in near perfect condition given its age & use. There is no apparent damage to the enamel or front of pin and no signs of any dents or bending. There is one other pin listed for sale on EBAY that appears to show significan signs of wear and is a much higher price.
Mishawaka Woolen Company-Ball Band Rubber Location: 312 N. Hill Street, Mishawaka, Indiana:
Ball-Band employed nearly 10,000 workers during World War II. In 1943, women made up more than half the labor force as they worked the "victory shift" during the war. Employment at the factory declined after the war, and was reduced even more significantly with the discontinuation of footwear in 1969.
