VINTAGE pencil necklace

Picked up at an estate sale by a friend years ago. Turquoise color pencil lead holder on a thin gold chain. Unsure if it works or not! Never tried to reload it, in fact, I'm not even sure if you can? Really fun statement piece regardless of function though.
