VINTAGE RICHELIEU FAUX PEARL NECKLACE

Charming vintage Richelieu faux pearl necklace with a black and gold bow accent. A larger oval faux pearl is at the center of the bow. Pretty fold over clasp. The total length is 16.5". Richelieu was founded in the early 1880s by Joseph H. Mayer & Bros. in Brooklyn, NY. They were a prominent name in the costume jewelry business, particularly during the 40s and 50s, and were well regarded for their imitation pearl pieces. Bought out by Lisner in 1978, the company ceased production in the mid-80s. This piece is probably from the 1970s, and it is marked on both the clasp and the bow. It is in excellent condition.
