VINTAGE KITCHEN WITCH 1970 1980 FLYING STREGA NONNA ITALIAN BABA YAGA GERMAN

If you’re Italian, German, Norwegian, or quite frankly, of any European descent, you know all about the friendly kitchen witch! In the 1970’s & 80’s they were all the rage in any kitchen of chefs born of foreign descent. Known as Strega Nonna, (which translates to Grandma Witch) in my loved one’s home, legend has it that when she is around, cakes & bread will rise, rice, beans, & toast will not burn, pots will never run dry, there will never be too much salt when baking, boiling, or steaming, the spices you add will be perfect, & everything you cook will fill your belly with love! Who wouldn’t want a helper to ward off mishaps, assisting in the kitchen, ensuring that every culinary endeavor is a success? This little centurian lady has a blue calico skirt, a red kerchief, & a whole lotta face, seeming to enjoy every moment of magic perched on her natural straw & branch broom! In GVC, consistent with age & use, she has a little bit of age spots, & her hand has disconnected from her broom, which is an easy fix if you choose to do so. For as long as I can remember, she hung in the corner of my loved one’s home from a suction hook, & she was the most incredible cook in a very large family of accomplished kitchen marvels! I’m downsizing for retirement, & she just can’t fly along for the ride, so I’m hoping that a new generation can enjoy, keeping the “luck of the kitchen” by their side!
