Created by Navajo native James Toadlena in the 1970s or 1980s this sterling silver belt buckle is decorated with turquoise
The buckle features large cut and raised laves and berries also has 2 blue turquoise stones with a pyrite matrix.
The buckle measures 3 3/8" by 2 5/8". Would be used on a 1 1/2" or narrower belt.
The buckle weighs 72.6 grams. Natural patina, light wear, overall lovely vintage condition!
I would consider wearing this as a necklace (bar across back could be used to sting through a chain or satin cord). This would look fabulous on a bulky sweater.
Stamped with artist and IHMSS sterling silver marks on back
