I don’t know if I should be annoyed, upset or flattered 🤔😒😅 I photoshopped this image for my Spell Storm Tassel Kimono listing a few years ago. I have since seen 7 different Poshmark sellers using my photoshopped image. Googling ‘Spell Storm Tassel Kimono’ takes you back to my original Poshmark listing. Because of this unfortunate incident, I have been forced to create this post and will be watermarking all my edited images. Please be considerate of other sellers work. Update: I believe there has been a misunderstanding. My issue is not the use of copyrighted material, we are all using them under ‘fair use’ as sellers. My issue is seeing my exact collaged or photoshopped image as a screenshot on another person’s listing.

buttonandthread Hello!♥️😘♥️ Just to clarify, Are you referring to those particular stock image collages being used in other listings?

mrsfantasticfox
mrsfantasticfox It’s a compliment and also people don’t want to create things; they don’t know how. People have taken my LoveShackFancy images with my own leg in it lol. Several people took the images put together with the print in an upclose inset. I have to admit they are good pics people are snippeting and using.

trealc3 Umm, sorry..just trying to understand here. So, you screenshot two stock photos, collage them together, and now they're 'your' photos. 🤔

buttonandthread While I agree 10000% w/your statement of using other peoples work,I am also a bit confused. The stock photo collages in your listings (which are the work of revolve, etc.) can be found online & used to create a listing on a photo app. I just created a faux listing on my page, using those 4 images, as an example of how it’s easily done w/o “copying” your listing. So, not sure how the photo collages are yours? When it comes to one’s own “actual” photos, I 100000% agree: one should NOT copy!♥️

lemurianmuse It happens ALL the time. People will even use them regardless of your marking them. Does it REALLY matter? Only if you own the copyright. We are all guilty of copyright infringements.

anabelcorrea To everyone saying who cares or whatever. Even if the images are copyrighted by Spell, once you’re a seller you are legally permitted to use said images. However, once the images have been altered/edited for certain platforms they are the seller’s responsibility.

anabelcorrea How do I know they’ve been ‘stolen’? I only use high-res images when setting up my posts. Every time I have seen my edited images on another seller’s page, it’s been a crappy screenshot. That’s how I know they have seen my post and did not accidentally save the image off google search.

anabelcorrea @grettaurriola I know you’re joining this conversation late, so I’m certain you have not read all the comments. My issue was with the sellers who have taken screenshots of my posts to use in theirs. I know they are screenshots because I only use high res images when compositing back/front images. My composited images do not come up when doing a google search, so that means they saw my post and chose to take a screenshot of the images I worked on.

brilldelights @anabelcorrea I’ve personally always had a penchant for those who copy me. Don’t find it flattering at all. People have copied my verbiage, my background setup, the nicknames I made up for certain things and passed them off as their own. Even tried copying my signature packaging (don’t even ask how I found out, but I did) Worked really hard to get my business where it is, I totally understand where you’re coming from. Some of these comments are really rude oh my gosh!!

queen_lux08
queen_lux08 Lots of people use my images. I'm a seller and if they RE sell my item they can use my pics. I don't mind one bit. Most people don't have all that time to do it themselves. I'm a SAHM and I'm grateful I HAVE the extra time. I really don't think MOST people give it a 2nd thought of who might get 'Offended' because it seriously shouldn't BE offensive 🙄 Now, if I have personal pics (myself, husband, kids) and they screenshot THOSE..that is different and 💯 Wrong!

brilldelights @vntgvxnresale Thanks for your response 😊 Yes I run a full time business for years. Can’t copyright my packaging or my backgrounds, but at least no one steals the photos with the custom BRILLIANT DELIGHTS signs. I did call someone out recently she stole my MANNEQUIN photos !!! Sheesh. I see it frequently too. People constantly using photos from other sellers and businesses.

rebelrebel1963
rebelrebel1963 I hate when I took pictures and my hand or back ground is used with out a mention of my closet. And when a seller uses the whole listing not once but multiple times in their closet I get really mad it takes me alot of time and energy to post and take photos at least mention my name right?

saraha1005
saraha1005 I think someone should explain to this seller how Poshmark AND copyright infringement works LMAO 😂
Mar 07Reply
anabelcorrea
anabelcorrea @saraha1005 I actually know that people have been using screenshots of my post because I use high-res images and retouched the first image so it was one continuous photo. You can tell by the shadows around the shoe. So when 10 different people take low res screenshots of my closet listing for their garment, it does get a bit annoying. I’m just tired of people stealing things I put time and effort into.

marnielynn831 I understand what your saying. I believe it’s just a common courtesy to ask someone if you can use their photos if you are borrowing from someone’s Poshmark page and it is in fact their photo. Now if you find these photos on say Google or another site and you use that photo to create your own listing in someway altering it or collaging it with another photo I don’t see the harm, but then again,

marnielynn831 I’m not some professional when it comes to photos or even understanding the whole copyright infringement (which I should better educate myself on) But I do understand where you’re coming from. You obviously feel upset because you work very hard at what you’re doing and when others are taking your work it bothers you and you’re venting it’s OK to vent..

marnielynn831
marnielynn831 What you might want to do is verbally state something in each listing so that others can read it clearly so others understand first hand your photos are yours and not to be used. People tend to form an immediate opinion of someone or get easily offended by that and it could cause you to lose a sale or a follower or Not... It just depends..

marnielynn831
marnielynn831 I just want you to know that I do hear what you’re saying. You had even questioned one of my listings about photos that I had up on my listing and whether or not I had taken them from a different seller…. But you see, I had recently done a trade transaction with someone and when the items arrived, they were not as expected and so I used her listing photos to relist it. In a situation like that does it make it ok to use the photos?
