Unopened, Brand New, Elf (VHS, 2004)

Christmas is a time for families, gifts, and a slightly clueless human elf who is suddenly thrust back into the fast-paced place of his birth: New York City. In this neo-holiday classic, Will Ferrell plays Buddy, a human baby who accidentally ends up on board Santa's sleigh and is subsequently raised at the North Pole as one of their own (with only a noticeable size difference). When he finds out the truth, the adventure is on, complete with Christmas shenanigans, classic cultural misunderstandings, and a whole host of kooky characters played by James Caan, Zooey Deschanel, Mary Steenburgen, Daniel Tay, Edward Asner, and Bob Newhart. This 2004 Jon Favreau directed film is packed with holiday cheer and family-friendly humor.
