Until the Series of 1963, the $2 United States Note was issued along with other types of currency. United States Notes are distinctive, because they were issued with red Treasury seals and serial numbers. It features Thomas Jefferson on the front and Jefferson’s Monticello home on the back. It was last made over 50 years ago. Red Seal notes are an interesting fare. They were started during the Civil War and were in production for about one hundred years, making them one of the longest produced notes next to the dollar produced by the Federal Reserve.
