Many people eagerly anticipate the return of their monarch Ulysses and his soldiers from the Trojan War in the ancient Greek city of Ithaca. Ulysses' loving wife Penelope and his adult son Telemachus are two of them. But not everyone is looking forward to Ulysses' return, especially his adversaries. They openly court Penelope and demand that she declare her husband dead, get remarried, and live with one of the boisterous suitors who have moved into her house after her husband left. Penelope, though, is adamant about expecting Ulysses to show up shortly. Penelope vows to remarry as soon as she completes weaving a sizable tapestry representing Ulysses' valiant acts in order to placate the hostile suitors.
