Ukraine artist Américo Balán's Signed Woodcut

This printed woodcut, called “Bulging,” is signed by the artist himself in pencil. The strong, striking image captures one's imagination. Américo Abraham Balán (1915-1986) was born in Ur, in the Ukraine, and was a renowned artist of international level and value who worked in Argentina. His woodcuts were some of his more famous endeavors, and he published a text on the theory and technique of the woodcut. The Rhode Island School of Design (RISD) owns at least six of Balan's prints. This sale includes the black wooden frame, which seems perfectly chosen for this art; it was framed by me, though, not a professional. Image size= approx. 6” x 8” Size of frame= 12” x 15”
