A beautiful vintage Russian USSR lid Khokhloma jar with lid. The jar is made with lacquered wood and features a hand-painted design. It is a wonderful example of traditional Russian art. The Jar is about 3 in tall and 3-1/2 in in diameter. Made in Russia when it was still USSR – see stamp on bottom. Ideal for use as a handcrafted trinket holder, plant holder, jewelry holder, or a decorative accent. Khokhloma is an old Russian folk handicraft dating back to the seventeenth century. It gets its name from the village where it originated, Khokhloma, which is located in the Nizhny Novgorod District. A-198
