UNFORGETTABLE 1940s' NAVY FELT WIDE BRIM HAT WITH FEATHER BIRD & SPLIT BRIM

This is a very special navy felt wide brim hat from the fabulous forties'! The short crown is flat at the top and is surrounded by a flexible wide brim which is split at the back. There is a narrow navy grosgrain band around the crown which ends in a bow at the back. The outstanding feature of this hat is the gorgeous feather "bird" with a long pheasant feather "tail", The wartime 40’s saw a huge variety of hats that were suitable for any face shape, hairstyle or personal preference. Throughout the war & on both sides of the Atlantic, elaborate creations brightened dreary utility fashions, brought about by rationing. The only items not rationed were hat materials. Explosions of feathers, veiling & artificial flowers were popular. There is no designer label, indicating it was a custom-made creation. Please keep in mind that you are buying a vintage hat, not new nor perfect! This is an authentic piece of fashion history! This hat is in wonderful vintage condition & has been lovingly preserved among over 1300 vintage hats we have collected for 40+ years.
