mythic_k I have done research today. These pins are nearly extinct now since Ukraine is at war. Those of you that bought them from me--you have something precious, thew few that are left are around $155. and up. I have more, but haven't decided if I will sell them. My 2 dealers are no longer listed. I hope they have survived. So you have something 1 of a kind!!💕

ilanabaird @mythic_k hi, just wanted to let you know: this brooch was made in Russia, in a small town Fedoskino. This particular pin is a copy of a famous portrait of Natalie Goncharova - a wife of the great Russian poet Alexander Pushkin. They could be sold in Ukraine. They are very nice pins!

mythic_k Ilana, You're right. I somehow grouped it in with the others that I bought from two sellers, both in Ukraine. I collect Fedoskino lacquered boxes and they're marked as Russian. This one is painted on wood, which typically identifies them as Russian. Usually the Ukrainian pieces are on German silver (before the war). I also collect the brooches. I'll check on the back to see if its marked. Otherwise it is not Russian, but I'm curious. Thank you for making the distinction. I'll let you know.

mythic_k Well, all I had to do was look at the photos I took above. This pin is not marked with the official Russian stamp, nor is it signed by the artist on the front. Real Fedoskinos are signed, since its one of the main schools of painting styles. This pin is not signed on the front either. So its a copy "of a copy," I guess, and not from Russia, since no stamp, which doesn't detract from its beauty. I'm so glad to have her identified though. Pushkin! My goodness. Thank you.💕😊

mythic_k Ilana, My detective personality was stirred by your comment. I tracked where I had bought pieces of my collection. Many were on E- and what surprised me was the lack of portraiture,. Almost everything is on wood and almost all floral. I found the piece I just sold --"Ilana" is now worth considerably more and a prominent name. I could kick myself for selling pieces now that I study them more intently. Almost all of the Fedoskinos are signed, but a few are not. Mysteries still to be solved. Thanks.
