First, the size of this handmade box: three and a half inches tall, two and a half inches wide and one and one quarter inch deep. Measurements are approximate because measuring devices will vary.
This could have been made as Tramp art or in a prison; however, I believe it is either trench or Tramp art from the 1940s because of the size of the box. It appears that it was made for unfiltered cigarettes, possibly comparable to camels brand.
It is fastened with hook and loop tape. I have shown various angles of this item and you should see the way that burned paper matches were glued together. The frame was secured by small pieces of what could be Balsa wood. Please review each of the photographs provided as our pictures are always an important part of our descriptions.
