Beautiful black lace transparent tunic length top with 4.5" long fringe galore!
The unique V-neckline in imposed on top of the initial lace ballet neckline and this V shape, the cuffs, and the hemline are edged with super mobile 4.5" Rayon Fringe.
The fringe moves with you when you move. It is a beautiful and ingenious design.
Best fits a woman's XS - S Measurements are taken flat as follow:
Hangs straight down from shoulders. There are darts to shape the bust -
Bust 17"
Hips 17"
Length 27" Fringe moves seductively
It is important to note that this top was designed and intended to be worn with nothing underneath so the natural shape of the woman's breasts showed through.
Sheer and transparent tops were being worn in public by artistic and avant garde women who dared (and did not mind occasional being arrested) at this time in fashion history. This was being done quite a lot in NYC at the time - right after Rudi Gernrich bared the breast with his monokini in 1964 up to the closure of his brand in 1968.
This top is from NYC and was bought in 1965 directly from the maker. It was designed and made by a girl who had a small boutique in the basement of a brownstone.
She said she was greatly influenced by Rudi Gernreich and Aubrey Beardsley - & both can be seen to have influenced this tunic!
Quite beautiful on!
