When tested, the dvds were all playing in black and white. I have not tested its ability to record. * No remote * No cords for connecting to the TV * Playback: This unit handles both DVD and VHS formats. The VCR section is a four-head hi-fi unit with 19-micron heads for better EP quality. * Recording: You can record TV to VHS tapes and watch a DVD at the same time. It can also copy non-copy-protected DVDs to VHS. * Connectivity: It provides composite, S-video, and component-video outputs for DVD, with composite or RF for VCR.
