Too small for my mid section

Sexy, fun, brand new, Betsey Johnson dress. Size Medium and it's mid calf length on a person 5'4". The mid section is about 32" around. The pink pattern looks like an animal print shape but when you look at the dress as a whole, you wouldn't necessarily think it's animal print.
