meg23 Wanna Host a Posh Party? 🔹Have you been on posh at least 3 months? 🔹Do you follow all posh rules? No off posh transactions or prohibited items? 🔹Do you have at least 25 listings? 🔹Are you active in the posh community? (Attend posh parties, share PFFs closets, network, etc) 💕If you meet all these criteria and are ready to host a posh party, send an email expressing your interest to hosting@poshmark.com 💕Note: you will get an initial email thanking you for your interest, it may be 1-2 months before you get chosen as a host. Don't give up!

meg23 So you just got the email asking you to host?! Woo-hoo!! Now what? 🔹First of all, reply to the email to confirm your interest! 🔹You won't find out your date or theme for a few days yet, use this time to your advantage. 🔹Make a party listing announcing your good news! Tag your friends so they can celebrate with you! (Beware: your news feed is about to explode!) 🔹Make a list of ppl you want to give a HP to (PFFs, mentors, newbies) 🔹Rearrange your closet! Keep all your best listings at the top, redo any that need improvement. You want your closet in top notch shape for all the extra traffic you're gonna get in the next couple weeks! 🔹This is also a great time to list any new items you've been meaning to add 🔹Be prepared for the craziness to begin! Give up on returning every share or replying to every comment. People will understand! Reply to those who go out of their way to help you, share your items a lot, give advice, etc. And of course don't forget your PFFs!

meg23 Now you've got your date and theme? Yay!! Let the countdown begin! Now it's time to get to work! 🔹First plan to be uninterrupted the night of the party! Let hubbie, kids, and friends know you'll be unavailable a couple hours that night 🔹Start looking for items you like that fit the theme. You can try to just pick 100 at first, or you can start off with lots of items you like then narrow it down later. 🔹When looking for HPs, make sure none of your cohosts have liked the item to avoid a duplicate HP 🔹As you select your actual HPs from your big pool of potentials, keep a tally of items and categories. (Clothes, shoes, jewelry, etc-- or you can break it down further into tops, pants, dresses, etc). Not only will you see when you're getting close to the total limit, you'll also see if your categories are uneven. (Ex: way too many shoes and no jewelry). If this happens, pick a shoe listing to cut but look in that person's closet for a different item- preferably jewelry! That way you can even out your categories without cutting anybody off your list. 🔹You don't have to give every body a HP! You'll have tons of requests, and while you might like to honor them all, you won't be able to. 🔹If you plan to share items from your own closet to the showroom (remember no more than 10), save them in your likes with your HPs to have them handy. 🔹Put a "divider" listing in your likes below your definite HPs (I used my party listing but any sale or meet me listing in your closet would work). This will keep your HPs easily visible at the top of your closet, but divided from all your "possible HPs" and your actual likes. Keep a few backup HPs saved below this in case any of your HPs sell before the party. 🔹Get one of your PFFs to commit to sharing your closet during the party! (Also the day of and the day after). You'll have your hands too full!

meg23 So after all your hard prep work, the big day is finally here! 🔹First, take a deep breath, relax, and enjoy! It goes by fast! 🔹Enjoy all the congrats you get today, the spotlight is on you! 🔹A couple hours before the part starts, make sure none of your HPs are sold. If so, replace with an alternate. 🔹Take a break from posh right before your party! You'll need it! 🔹Before the part starts make sure to take a bathroom break! Find a comfy spot and have plenty of snacks and drinks handy! 🔹Make your comment that you any to use to announce your HPs, copy ir so you can just paste. 🔹Now the longest part of the whole day-- waiting for the party to begin! (The last 1/2 hour before it starts seems to last FOREVER!)

meg23 Woo-hoo!! Party time!! It's your time to shine!! 🔹Share your first host pick! Paste your comment then share to the HP showroom. Now look at the showroom to watch your first HP show up!! Exciting right?! 🔹Keep checking the showroom after every 10 or so likes to make sure your HPs are going through. 🔹Keep your likes pulled up in the "my account" tab, and check the HP showroom in the "shop" tab. Whatever you do, don't exit your likes folder! (If you do, they will be a jumbled mess when you open it back up-- I learned that the hard way!) 🔹Pace yourself! (To get a general idea divide your total HPs by 4, then share that many every 1/2 hr) 🔹Remember everything you share will go to the HP showroom, only share your HPs. 🔹Enjoy your party!

(An easy way is to make a thank you listing then just tag them) 🔹Buy one of your HPs as a souvenir of your fun night and a reward for your hard work!

nami001 @meg23 Hi Meg!! I just wanted to stop by and thank you for putting this together. It really came in handy and it was such a breeze! I got all worried and nervous for nothing lol. Before the party, I separated all my items into categories as you suggested but I didn't use dividers because I was afraid I would mistakenly put it in the show room. I had my laptop open to the host pick showroom and from my mobile I would check the listing before posting it to make sure none of my co-hosts liked it or commented and then pasted my congrats and shared to host picks. Easy breezy! I tried to do as you suggested, try to break it up. If I saw a lot of dresses I uploaded shoes. Anyway thank you so much! You're da bomb!!

meg23 @nami001 so glad it helped! You actually were way more organized than me! I didn't divide my items into categories in my likes, I just tallied them on paper. And I totally would've shared dividers if I had them. I only had one. It was at the bottom of all my host picks, so that when I got to it I knew to stop sharing. (To separate host picks from items I "liked" prior to hosting that weren't fitting with the theme). If that makes sense. Anyway I'm glad that it helped! If you have any other tips to add please do! Question for you ladies, when you co-hosted, how did you go back and forth to check if your HPs were shared to the party, did you use 2 devices (computer/cell or tablet?) I am worried about the order of things, like "share" an item you liked, then write a comment, then share again to the HP showroom?!?!? Is that how it works? (I guess "share to showroom" will be the same as "share to party?" Could you please help??? Thank you!)

meg23 @leliluv I just used one. Go to your account tab and keep your likes open in it. Go to the shop tab and keep the HP showroom open in it. Alternate between the two by swapping back and forth between tabs.

nami001 @leliluv I used 2 devices. I used my laptop and kept it open to the host show room and would make sure the hp was uploading. You'll see it pop up to the showroom. It might say "2 new listings" etc. Just click on it (on your iPad or computer) and it will show the new listings. Then from my mobile (I stayed in my likes) and before posting to the showroom, I made sure it wasn't sold or that any of my co-hosts had picked it as their hp. When that was all clear, I pasted my congrats and posted to the party. As I watched th hp showroom, if I noticed there were a lot of skirts or dresses, then I would pick a purse or something different to keep in interesting.

For now, until you find out your theme, don't try to pick any HPs. Just make a list of closets you want to include. (Some ppl will tell you to start picking HPs that could go for several themes, I tried it and it was a headache bc then I had to weed thru them). Any get ready to make some sales! One perk of hosting is that you have a lot more ppl than usual browsing your closet! I made 4 sales that week alone! (That's a significant number in a small closet like mine, I usually make about one per month! Lol).

meg23 ❗❤❗❤UPDATE❤❗❤❗ Ok ladies just a couple things to add since the original list: 1. When selecting HPs make sure to include items from all price ranges! When I hosted the vast majority were between $50-200, but I had several under $10, plus I threw in a couple $1000+! You want to have something for everyone! 2. There's no "posh police" counting your host picks! While you should try to follow the rules it's OK if you go a little over 100 host picks (by a little I mean like 120 etc, not 500!). You won't get kicked off posh or banned from parties if you have 105! 3. Don't let ppl bully you or guilt trip you if you can't give them a host pick! Ppl worth giving one too will act classy either way. Your PFFs will still be your friends if you don't give them one (although if they're your PFFs I would!). And anybody who's hosted a party before will TOTALLY understand bc they are familiar with the limits-- as well as how hard it is to stick to them! 4. When picking your HPs, try to include different "sub-themes" (I just made up that word! 😄). What I mean is, if your theme is a style try to include several levels of dressiness (another made up word!) and vice versa! Example: if your theme is girly girl (or city style like mine), these are a type of style. Include some casual pieces, some dressy, and some in between. If your theme dictates either casual or dressy, (Date night or work week would be dressier themes, laid back glam or comfy chic would be casual themes), then try to encompass different styles within that level of "dressiness" -- date night could include girly pieces,sophisticated chic, or boho but they'd all be dressy. Same in reverse for comfy chic. Make sense? 5. Please stay to theme. While different hosts may interpret the same theme different ways, there's obvious no's. Don't do it. Also don't share "meet the seller" or "sale" listings, it's supposed to be a place to shop! (Remember to cancel any plans for HP that get bought before your party 😔) 6. Anything you share will go to the HP share room! That's why you need somebody else to share your stuff. This is not the time to share your PFFs entire closet or your own. Hard not to do I know. 💕💕Think that's all the updates I have for you, lmk if you have any questions!!

meg23 @charms245 the rule is no closets with unsupported items. I might be tempted to make an exception if its only sold items bc a lot of ppl don't realize that's a no no til they've been on posh a little while, but they can't remove their sold listings. I have heard in the past that if you did that at the beginning but currently follow all the rules it doesn't prevent you from becoming a host or SU so I guess it would be ok.

At least you have plenty of time! I found out I was hosting a week and a half before my party. Then only got the theme three days before! I lived on posh those three days! Lol

meg23 @proverbs_31 Don't try yet! I did bc a pff told me some items could be used for several themes (which is true). But over half didnt fit mine. (They would worked for girly girl, flirty and feminine, date night, etc but not city style). So then I had to delete half. Would've almost been easier to start from scratch the day I got my theme. So what I recommend is just making a list of closets you want to include.

meg23 @proverbs_31 but when you do start looking for HPs, before you "like" any, pick either your party listing or some other listing in your closet that stands out (like your conversation page), like it before liking any of your HPs so it acts as a divider in your closet. On party night it'll be easy to find your HPs bc they'll all be above the listing.

meg23 @dent0818 I guess it's possible they've liked it for themselves, I can't think of any way to know for sure. Probably they're thinking if it for a HP tho. But in the end it's ok, there were a couple items me and one of my cohosts both shared as hp. And yes it was crazy but fortunately it was the last fifteen minutes or so and I had already shared almost all of my HPs!

With wedding season in full swing and the increased visitors in your closet, this us probably one of the best chances to get it sold! 2. Keep all your more expensive/ prettier/ ready to sell items higher

meg23 3. Purple statement necklace and the boho necklace listed later-- both look great but I think some brighter lighting might really make them pop! Maybe on your counter? Or alternately if you want a solid or lighter background put them on a pillowcase in a chair right under a window (zoom so the chair isn't visible of course) 4. Gold shoes-- all the pics are great! I might put either the 2nd or 4th as cover shot (4th has best view of front & back but the detail really pops on 2nd)

meg23 5. pastel pink top top w/ Peter Pan collar--- think it would show up better on a darker background. Maybe your armoire (I think!) that you have the white skirt with the purple flowers hanging from? (I hang all my light tops on mine, they look so much better!) 6. Plum dress-- you've got theming strip at the bottom that shows the fabric detail great! But maybe better lighting to show the style, the dress is a tad dark in the pics. Not sure where....

meg23 .....Maybe the same spot but at night when the sun is not shining behind it (which should be great lighting but I think it's giving it a glare?) or laid flat on the floor under a brighter light? Those are the only ones I would play with a little. And DEFINITELY list as much new stuff as you can! Take advantage of the spotlight! And seriously lmk if you need anything else!

(Especially if you paid for quicker shipping-- not sure if it's worth that to you or not but the hanger is pretty cheap so it still wouldn't be bad). I think they look great as is tho! If its a maybe, then like it to save it but don't make any promises. If you like it but its a terrible pic, maybe suggest better lighting etc. But overall you don't have to give everybody an explanation of why you don't want to hp an item

Maybe not everyone is into romantic dresses, but you can find Feminine Style jeans, sneakers etc. Because trust me, if I'm going to wear sneakers, they're going to be Feminine looking ones lol!

proverbs_31 @pre_pa514 Oh, and I did not ask people to tag me in their items, but that didn't matter. People tagged me all the time! It was great if I liked the item, but we simply CAN'T give them all a HP! I just didn't respond to most. And, expect people to tag you right up until and during the party lol. Some will just be one or 2, some will be like 10 things! People will also ask you to look in their closet during the party. I guess they don't understand how hard we work to curate a great spread of HPs.

meg23 @pre_pa514 one thing that helps with the newsfeed is to set it to comments only. But if you do, check the offer tab frequently too. Don't wanna miss one before it expires! Also I had the same frustration with everything I liked already being a HP, some I still chose bc I liked them so much, but I wanted the majority to me first time HPs.

(although, my physical therapist did recommend I get a much needed new pair. I'm supposed to go to a certain place that works with you to get you the best ones for your feet... cmc514 I found a few pairs of crochet shorts also today! And all those rompers, so darn cute! Just SO not anything I could wear! Seeing them all makes me want one though lol. The night before my party I had about 85 solid choices, and needed to weed out the rest down to 15... Which turned into 25 lol. But I chose those 25 within just a few hours before my party. Some even within the last hour! Because by that point you HAVE to choose lol

So I did these 4 steps for EACH ITEM: 🎉ON MY PHONE: 1) SHARE (to the party, duh!) 2) COMMENT (Paste your HP message) 3) UN-LIKE (so you don't re-share) 🎉ON MY LAPTOP: 4) REFRESH the HP showroom and make sure the item showed up, and that you no longer "like" it (no red heart) - this way it's our if your likes so you know you shared it, and won't re-share it...

proverbs_31 Also what @meg23 said about pacing yourself is simple yet genious!!! (you know, like with standardized tests 😉) 100 items in 2 hours, so about 25 items every half hour. And - you may want to decide what item to share first and last, and when you want to share your items. I never thought of those until the party started lol! @pre_pa514

But I put flowers across the top and hearts across the bottom to make it stand out. (I posted it a couple times to one of my sold listings just to make sure it would line up right!

No matter how much you try, there will be someone who doesn't get one. And ultimately it's not about ppl pleasing. It's about showcasing items you love. In hindsight I worried way too much about that.

(I honestly don't see the point of listing it until it's available, but a lot of ppl do). I guess this is a gray area we should probably ask posh customer service about.

If the seller had it listed as coming soon but it was technically available for purchase (sorta like a preorder), but there was an option to hit the buy button, then I say go for it. If they've got is listed as "unavailable" where the buy button usually is, then maybe steer clear. What do yall think?

meg23 @resthomas I'll be happy to check your closet out, but my general tips as far as "cleaning up the closet" are to move your best listings to the top (your best cover shots but also your big ticket items that you really want to sell) and to add any new listings you've been meaning to! You'll get a lot of traffic through your closet and most likely several sales!

gallery_of_gems @chiqtita when you get your party date, it's usually a few months in advance! So if you go ahead & make your party announcement listing then everybody starts spreading the word & tagging everyone, & your party announcement is full of so many closet tags it is unreal!! You can't go thru all of them!! So u get a lot of pre-party exposure time, so u can run sales & whatever. I think a lot of Stellar Posh closets "followed" me just because I was hosting-may not have been seen if I wasn't!😉😉

meg23 @rnicu00 wow you were fortunate to have that much prep time, my date was only 3 weeks after I got my email! @chiqtita either way you will still wait a while after you get your email and date before your theme. Sometimes you may not get your theme til a week before (4 days in my case!) in the meantime you can make a list of closets to include then pick specific items once you get your theme
