karisrenee I have a sneaking suspicion that when you comment on those singular "meet the seller" posts to let them have it and tell them to stop... that it makes your page and username even MORE visible and might lead to even more spam. I literally got ONE spam message like this late last week, and I gave them a piece of my mind on thei 1 listing (along with like 50 other people lol) but then this week I've already had at least 30 or 40 spam posts just since this morning.

karisrenee I know everyone wants to go off on them because it's so disgusting, but the fact is, these are not even multiple people OR the actual semi-naked girls in the photos. This is some hacker spammer crap where are they just Google like "trashy girls" or something, and just create all these BS accounts & ruin our pages.
May 23Reply
karisrenee
karisrenee I really really really hope that Poshmark enables an option for us to delete comments because even if these fake accounts to get deleted, this stupid little message is still on all of our listings!
May 23Reply
karisrenee
karisrenee My overall recommendation for all the spam that has been going on today: block all of them and avoid commenting!! It's not a real person, she's not reading your comments and feeling badly. No one actually cares about what you post because it's not even the girl in the photos that you're talking to. This is a coordinated effort. There's no other explanation for so many accounts posting in so many pages SIMULTANEOUSLY.
May 23Reply
karisrenee
karisrenee The absolute Max that you should comment should be "@manish @pm_editor". Hopefully, if the people who RUN poshmark get enough of those tags consistently, they will know exactly which accounts to deactivate. Unfortunately, this will not remove the original spam comments from your page, so keep your eyes open and block these people as soon as you get a comment.
May 23Reply
karisrenee
karisrenee Speed is key: I wasn't fast enough in blocking (was out at lunch), and the same users ended up commenting several times on my other listings as a result.
May 23Reply
karisrenee
karisrenee BLOCK #1 & avoid reprimanding them, as they may try to use your info against you further.
May 23Reply
karisrenee
karisrenee REPORT them using the tiny 3 dots on the top right of their pages. Feel free to do this several times :)
May 23Reply
karisrenee
karisrenee IGNORE them. Do not seek these people out. Again, they're not reading comments, and they're not going to stop just because you told them to stop.
May 23Reply
karisrenee
karisrenee and most importantly- DO NOT follow any links that they give you. This is a method to capture your personal info & possibly lead to identity theft. That is the goal. If they get even 1 of us, then it is worth it.

vintage_closet_
vintage_closet_ @karisrenee Good tips thanks! I got 98 of their spams across most of my items in a short time span. You're right - it must be bots/hacker because they managed to use many different profiles to make essentially the same comment on my items, but also somehow managed to never duplicate the comment on the same listing (that I have seen yet). I was worried it had only happened to me, but since it happened to lots of us it may be that Posh was hacked rather than any one of us.
May 23Reply
karisrenee
karisrenee Yes! @vintage_closet_ it's important to know that it is not a person holding a phone reading these comments you know? It's bringing all us good gals together, though! I HOPE that PM gets the source AND gives us a "delete comment" feature 😘😘 so disappointed to hear this may be linked to sharing (cuz that's what makes the posh world go round!) But I'll keep this listing updated as we get more info xo
May 23Reply
sunrisepickers
sunrisepickers Find people>new people>just joined. You can sometimes find the new accounts that way and block them before they have a chance to find your listings. Doesn't stop all of them but helps a bit anyway. I sure hope Posh finally gives us the power to delete comments on our listings after this fiasco today.
May 23Reply

sassybotique @karisrenee Thank you for sharing this !! You are right now that I can think about it I thought I was going crazy because last night I received like 10 comments form different users about free Apple something and all of those user profile photos were women almost naked! When I saw that I got so mad because who gives them the right to comment on your listings ! You know...
May 24Reply
sassybotique
sassybotique @karisrenee or usually they leave an email too so you can contact them concerning a product ! That's crazy because I said to whoever was that person Follow the rules !! Then a blocked them
May 24Reply
sassybotique
sassybotique @karisrenee wow!! I am gonna take your advice and won't share until this is resolve so please keep me updated. Thanks
May 24Reply
karisrenee
karisrenee Yeahhh @sassybotique There were like over 100 that got to me. At the end of the day- anyone who asks you for your personal contact info (that you do not already trust) is 90% likely to be scamming you. It's just not safe. With just your reply to their "can you email me more pictures here?", people can easily try to steal your identity. Thankfully it sounds like it was handled yesterday, but i HOPE it does not happen again.
May 24Reply
sassybotique
sassybotique @karisrenee I hope so too ! This is so scary !! So when would I be able to share again?
May 24Reply
karisrenee
karisrenee Yeah @sassybotique I mean it's totally up to you! I'm sharing again now because Poshmark emailed me to tell me that they're addressing it, and all the crazy comments on my listings have been removed, so as long as they can fix it.. I'm not worried about sharing! But that's just me xoxo
May 24Reply
walkinmyshoes
walkinmyshoes Gosh, what in the world did I miss? @karisrenee
May 25Reply
karisrenee
karisrenee @walkinmyshoes omg just be glad that you missed it! If you were out and about, then that means you probably were not sharing your items and populating the feed, but a couple of days ago, so hacker / scammer / spammer created all these fake accounts with naked girls as the profile pictures, and they spam commented over a hundred of my listings and several other peoples!
May 25Reply
karisrenee
karisrenee Saying the same comments like "hey want a free iPhone 6? Click the link in my page for more info!" It was some phishing scam to steal people's information, and it happened to hundreds and hundreds of other people too. I emailed poshmark about it, and they told me that they were aware of the issue and were taking steps to fix it.
May 25Reply
karisrenee
karisrenee They were able to actually remove all of those comments from the listings without us having to delete and start over. Which was a huge relief, because in order to get rid of those stupid messages, I would have had to redo almost my entire closet page!
May 25Reply
karisrenee
karisrenee One of my Posh friends told me that it was a bot program that was attacking all of the listings showing up in the feed. So overall sharing went way way way down this week as a result because people were afraid to share things to the feed, knowing that that's where all the spam was being targeted.
May 25Reply
karisrenee
karisrenee Unfortunately though, pm has still has not put out a public group statement or email to everyone letting them know that they fixed the root issue completely and that there's nothing to worry about and that we should go back to sharing as usual.. There's no assurance that it won't happen again, and no actual Authority has been able to give us information on what actually happened or why.
May 25Reply
karisrenee
karisrenee The fake spammer pages have been deleted though, and most of them were actually deleted the day of all of the drama, so I do applaud Poshmark for handling it quickly! But it would be nice to get an overall summary of what happened and how they fixed it and if everything is fine to go back to sharing as normal.
May 25Reply
karisrenee
karisrenee I personally have gone back to sharing as normal: my own listings and other peoples. But I do feel a little nervous about it because you don't want to make anyone else at Target. I can't not participate, though, just because someone is abusing the platform. They really just need to give us the option to delete comments at our own discretion so that we can moderate our own pages without having to create such a stir.
May 25Reply
walkinmyshoes
walkinmyshoes That is AWFUL! If you haven't noticed, I really have not been on Posh as much as before spring break. Been in a slump and can not seem to kick this funk. I'm so sorry that happened to you and hopefully it will not occur again. @karisrenee

walkinmyshoes
walkinmyshoes Spammers & scammers are on the rise! So glad you were able to get everything resolved without having to practically re-do your entire closet. Posh has come a long way from when it first started. Every now again I'll get a nasty comment from a new posher telling me I'm selling fake items however I never advertise my items as an item that it may be similar with. I almost got Southwest Little Rock on a girl one day but had to contain myself and blocked her. @karisrenee

karisrenee
karisrenee Just added an example of how creative some of the trolling is. There are clever general statements that these users will post that make it seem like they're interested in your item. They typically ARE NOT. This is a ploy to get your email address or other personal info. Do not give out any personal contact details to strangers ❌danger ❌
May 29Reply
karisrenee
karisrenee if you see any version of "hey I'm interested in your item but have a few more questions...can you email me at xyz for more info?" Don't. You can share anything on poshmark. You need to show them more than the max allowed 4 pictures for each listing? Create a new listing titled "addtl pics" marked as "not for sale" and tag them there. All questions can be addressed in the comments.
May 29Reply
karisrenee
karisrenee If anyone makes you uncomfortable or you see a comment like this on a listing that is not even applicable (like a "chat" listing or a post for "addtl pictures", anything that does not fit the story/question the person is asking: then report them, block them, and go to their page to see of they have any real posts, sales, or comments from other people like you who have told them to stop.
May 29Reply

alenaco
alenaco Hi, thanks for your tips and all of your shares I appreciate it, I love your closet 💖 I have a question that's kind of unrelated, curious to hear feedback. Last week a male posher with no posts only meet the posher with an eerie, close up selfie with no likes/comments liked, then unliked, all of my listings and added them to a bundle, only ones which I myself was posing in. I blocked him because I think the only of the brand he followed was Victoria's Secret.
Jul 06Reply
alenaco
alenaco Question is, have you heard of anything similar happening? I'm assuming the worst...it was pretty strange. 💜 thank you
Jul 06Reply
karisrenee
karisrenee Yes @alenaco that is SUPER shady! There have been creeps on here that I've seen before and avoided. One time, there was a man that was actually purchasing (exclusively) used/worn socks from women and would ask them to post photos. He was reported based on the SEVERAL women who went to his profile, hit those 3 little dots at the top right, and reported him for harassment (or whatever option fit).
Jul 11Reply
karisrenee
karisrenee The original girl that noticed this actually created a post ABOUT him, showing his username in the comments (not tagging him as @creeperdude but just "his username is creeperdude"), and even the women who did not know him- helped her report him and eventually got him kicked off. The only thing about that is that poshmark does not encourage creating listings ABOUT other poshers.
Jul 11Reply
karisrenee
karisrenee So to keep yourself safe, I'd create a general listing about shady activity, discuss the details in the comments, see if you can get your friends/followers to help report him, and Do Not Forget to email support @ poshmark.com with all the details!! (including your listing where others may have similar stories). This will give everyone the heads up, while protecting your acct at the same time. Take this straight to posh support girl! There are creepers LURKING lol

Nov 07Reply

karisrenee Hi there @sfpatterson Nice to meet you too! unfortunately, there is no way to delete comments, but you can always take a screenshot of the comment and listing & send it to support @ poshmark.com and ask them to manually remove it! Just explain your situation about not knowing and see if they can do it for you :)

Something else I'm noticing and I'm starting to think it's part of the scam as well is all these new Poshers adding an item to a bundle listing and when I click on their profile their all brand spanking new....all the time! Do you think their adding an item to a bundle to get you to comment?????? Curious as to what you think about this one, it been happening to me a lot here lately!

celis___closet
celis___closet @nduran Ugh we can relate
Nov 08Reply
karisrenee
karisrenee Hey @sfpatterson well that is amazing! Congrats on the transformation and turning this into something bigger :) I'd recommend just laying out your items like an online store does theirs. So find a store online that you often shop at, like the limited or the avenue or ann taylor, etc.. See how their shop pages look and take some notes! There's so much research that goes into those pages and layouts and photo styling for those target markets.
Nov 08Reply
karisrenee
karisrenee If you want to successfully attract the same audience(s), then take notes on styling your photos that way if you can! And as always- I recommend natural lighting. I try to just shoot a bunch of items in the morning or afternoon vs at night when the warm lighting makes my items look "blah". I just shared a couple of my favorite items from your page based on how you've shot them!
Nov 08Reply
karisrenee
karisrenee You don't always have to have a model to make your items look good in a photo- sometimes just good lighting and getting far away enough to show details will take you even further!
Nov 08Reply
karisrenee
karisrenee ughh ya! @stevensonkatie it was SO annoying, and it occasionally still happens, but the good news is- it never lasts long! They know immediately :))
Nov 08Reply
karisrenee
karisrenee Well! @lbgraham I think that "new" users that just add your item to a bundle could maybe be (a) an attempt to get a conversation going... but also (b) just someone new who doesn't know what they're doing lol It's MOSTLY new users that add items to a bundle because they see it similar to the LIKE button. It's just another way to "save" your favorites like on any other website.
Nov 08Reply
karisrenee
karisrenee It's like "add to cart" when you shop online with a new store. I wouldn't pay this any mind, but I also am at the point now where I neverrrrr reach out to people who "Add to bundle" because that's no guarantee of purchase or interest. It's just like LIKING an item.
Nov 08Reply
karisrenee
karisrenee So I can't get my hopes up every time. I get bundle adds all the time, and like 1/10 MIGHT buy something. It's just as irrelevant as likes are, honestly. I saved time by not over-thinking it and reaching out. If they want it, they'll buy or ask a question. If not- that's a window shopper, and I can't slow my roll for someone just passing by lol (plus you don't want to look needy!)
Nov 08Reply
lbgraham
lbgraham @karisrenee Thank you for your input, it totally makes sense and I agree with you. I'm bad about sometimes overthinking things.😉 You have an amazing closet and I have enjoyed reading all the feedback from your posts today. Happy Poshing and thanks again for taking the time to respond.😘🤗

nubella @karisrenee I concur. I want a delete comment feature. I'd also like a feature where we can prevent low ball offers like an option that says the offer has to be above a certain amount or something or a certain percentage. egentryrn1
egentryrn1 I received a comment asking me to send more pictures in an email. I don’t mind doing this as Poshmark crops the photos so much that some things are hard to really get a good look at. The way the message is written though makes me think it’s spam. Has anyone emailed pictures and not had any issues or would you advise against it? Thanks!! New here :)
Mar 31Reply
karisrenee
karisrenee @egentryrn1 Hey! Definitely do not do that. Poshmark allows you to upload several pictures in a listing, and you can also create an additional listing with more photos! So, if anyone asks you to send them an email, requesting more photos, it’s 100% likely that it’s a scam.
Apr 01Reply
karisrenee
karisrenee @egentryrn1 Even if you have to use another app like photo grid, where you can upload a rectangular size image and make it fit within a square shape, I would recommend that over emailing anyone off of the app. There’s just no safe reason to do it.

lilyspring
lilyspring Love this! Thank you. In case anyone is unaware, we can delete all comments (but not our own) in our closets by tapping the small flag next to the reply feature. Report as spam. It will auto delete the comment. Exit closet, then go back in. You will see that the comment is gone.
Jul 07Reply
karisrenee
karisrenee @lilyspring yes!! That is so awesome now that they have that!! Thank you for sharing 💕 I’m so glad that option is available now after so long of being stuck with spammy comments 🎀
Jul 07Reply
lilyspring
lilyspring @karisrenee if anyone needs to reply to a comment, create separate disposable listing that you can delete. We can’t delete our own comments so it will look weird that other comments are deleted but not your own. Also, some or many people don’t like comments (not just because of spamming) because it generates a date next to it making a listing seem “dated” and “old” instead of new and fresh.

mariah_guz33
mariah_guz33 Have you ever had a situation where someone makes an offer, and they have followers and follow other people and just no posting? No weird comments or anything like that. Just worried what if I accept and don’t get my money.
Jul 20Reply
karisrenee
karisrenee @mariah_guz33 Hey! That’s totally happened to me before. I’ve had people do that and never follow through with the purchase because they decided the app wasn’t for them, etc. BUT I’ve also had super weird looking accounts buy tons of things successfully with no problem.
Jul 23Reply
karisrenee
karisrenee @mariah_guz33 At the end of the day, just keep in mind that no offer is concrete until you accept it. Then, at that point, Poshmark will run their credit card. If for whatever reason it’s declined, they’ll tell you right away! But if someone commits to an actual purchase, just treat it like normal! I had to learn not to take offers too seriously. They can be canceled by the buyer at any time, and it’s only binding once you’ve approved it.

karisrenee @mariah_guz33 so I look at offers as just super strong “likes” 😆 your best bet is to respond immediately w a counter offer or acceptance to see if it’s worthwhile. Because I HAVE seen people make reasonable offers that I would have taken, & then they cancel the offer before I had the chance to review.

karisrenee @mariah_guz33 Some people just change their minds, others just don’t know what they’re doing. Either way, the only thing you can really bet on is the final sale. But that can totally come from a blank account w a dumb flower as the photo and still get you paid 😆 I would recommend looking to see if you can find their closet love notes to see if they’ve left ratings or reviews for other people. That would at least show an established history of buying from people.

ladyarachnid @karisrenee Hey, I apologize if you've addressed this somewhere else in this thread, but have you ever had issues with comments disappearing from your listings? I have several items in my closet where it shows 1 comment on a listing but then when you open it up there's nothing there. I also had a comment on an item last night, I replied to it but when I checked it this morning it was gone (that one could have been spam now that I think about it, it included the buyer's email address).

karisrenee @andrewssweetie Yep! I think you hit the nail on the head. Any comment that leaves an email address is likely going to get flagged for removal as spam, considering that we all have the easy commenting access and therefore no need to really exchange additional contact information. This is the #1 sign of a spam comment or fake account.

karisrenee @andrewssweetie now... I’m Not sure what would happen if you (or any real/reputable acct) were to put an email address in a comment! Maybe it would get automatically removed after awhile, maybe it would stay up 🤷🏾‍♀️ hmm idk! But long story short, you’re dodging a bullet by not interacting with the comment that has been removed lol Xo

ladyarachnid @karisrenee yeah, that's the only one that I saw first before it was removed so I'm thinking the others were probably spam also. And each item was listed for over $100 to start with so there must be some sort of bot that posts spam to specific items. Couldn't tell you! There's a lot of creepy people out there...thanks for your feedback, I appreciate it.

fashion_scrilla
fashion_scrilla @karisrenee hello dear, do you have any advice on what to do if there’s a comment from a posher who is in direct violation of proper posh etiquette by commenting rude comments under one of my popular listings. I’ve reported he comments for spam, harassment and offensiveness as well as for transaction off Poshmark as a last respite and it’s been over 24 hours and posh still has not removed the comments 💔

karisrenee @fashion_scrilla Hey there! I’m sorry to hear that. Sadly, it seems like you’ve exhausted your options on the app, but the only other thing that I would recommend is taking a screenshot and also sending this information to SUPPORT @ Poshmark . C0m. This will be the only way to ensure that an actual real life person sees the content and addresses it. Now, by the time that they respond, that comment may have been deleted, but at least it’s worth a try!
