About the Author Rocio Huerta De Mendieta is an artist, maker, and storyteller rooted in heritage, belonging, and resilience. A passionate creator of crochet and fiber art, Rocio weaves threads of heritage, strength, and belonging into every piece she makes — a craft taught by her mother and grandmother, and shaped by a lifetime of trials and triumphs. Born and raised in Mexico, Rocio came to the United States as a young woman, carrying little more than a hopeful heart and a deep trust in belonging. Through moments of crossing borders, starting anew, and nurturing a growing family, she discovered that belonging can be found in threads — threads of heritage, threads of memory, threads of belonging that connect generations and honor the stories that came before. Today, as a Posh Ambassador II, mentor, and proud 5‑Star seller with over 900 sales, Rocio celebrates slow fashion and sustainable making — creating bold, one‑of‑a‑kind pieces from recycled and upcycled materials.
