Starr Carter, attends a party in her neighborhood. Starr runs into her childhood best friend, Khalil Harris but gunshots from a gang fight interrupt the party, and Khalil offers to take Starr home. While Khalil drives a police officer pulls them over. The officer orders him out of the car and searches him. The officer commands Khalil not to move, Khalil opens the door to check on Starr and grabs this hair bush out of the car. Then the officer fatally shoots Khalil.
