The Smithsonian Museum collection has the most complete representation of larvae (123,000 specimens) and adults in the Western Hemisphere.
This item is the truly Collector's item and is a\the original collection tray which used to belong to the largest contributor to the Smithsonian Museum section
on the Moths and Butterflies -- Ernest M. Shull. It displays numerous rare and unique specimen of the soon to be extinct species. The tray has descriptions
in the back, all written by the collector himself. Mr. Shull, was not only a world-renowned collector and scientist behind the extensive knowledge and
research done on the unique species of butterflies and moths, but he is also the author of the famous book -- The Butterflies of Indiana. This tray never
ended up in the Smithsonian collection, but always remained with its owner until it was presented as a great gift to my family member when Mr. Shull was
photographed for a book on the eccentrics of Indiana.
I also have an original note written by Mr. Shull, paperwork and an original box for this item somewhere in the storage, but so far I have not been able to find
them. If I find them by the time of sale, I will include them in the package, and if not, the item'll come without them.
