It is our belief that people are entitled to know, as precisely as possible, what physicians mean when they refer to obscure tests and procedures. It is also our conviction that better health will result from increased knowledge and understanding of medical problems. This work hopes to add to such knowledge and thus promote the cause of improved health. Many of the words defined in the dictionary section are also used in ordinary, nonmedical conversation. The definitions given herein are invariably the medical definitions and relate only by coincidence to their usage in everyday conversation.
