“Better never means better for everyone... It always means worse, for some.”
Like your jewelry to mean something? You'll love my handmade literature necklaces! This one depicts Margaret Atwood's dystopian novel The Handmaid's Tale.
This silver unisex necklace features (from left to right), an egg carton charm, since eggs symbolize female fertility in the novel. Next is an eye charm, for the Eyes, the violent enforcers of Gilead's laws. Then comes a book cover pendant. In the center is a pendant of a makeup compact, because makeup represents femininity and being able to control one's appearance. To the right is a quote engraved with "We thought we had such problems. How were we to know we were happy?" Next is a charm with pressed red flowers, since flowers symbolize the restrictive role of women in Gilead, and red tulips symbolize the handmaids. Last is a bible charm, for the pervasive influence of Christianity in Gilead. This necklace has been newly handmade just for you, and is adjustable from 18 to 26 inches (can be altered upon request).
