The End of The Trail Iconic Native American Cast Iron Bookends Vintage. In good used condition. The Bookends measure approximately 4"ht x 4"w x 1-1'2". For a relatively small pair they're deceptively solid and weighty. They're in good vintage condition with a rustic patina consistent of pre-owned pieces of their nature and time. Highly functional, they also speak of a salient and poignant time in history.
Based on the Historic 1918 Statue - now featured in the Metropolitan Museum of Art - by Artist James Earle Fraser, the Bronze Cast immortalizes the extreme hardships endured by the Indigenous People during the colonization period.
A weary Native American on horseback is portrayed in these iconic mid century bookends
"The End of The Trail", which is also inscribed on the base of the bookends. Note: Vintage books not included. Thank you.
