Tagua Nut necklace from Costa Rica with screw clasp

This beautiful Tagua Nut necklace was purchased while on vacation in Costa Rica many years ago. Tagua (also known as vegetable ivory) comes from a type of nut that grows on palm trees. When mature, the nuts are dried and then carved into lovely jewelry, sculptures, or souvenirs. The Tagua nuts are non-toxic, eco-friendly, and sustainable. They are harvested without harming the trees.
