Joan nervously reapplied her lipstick in the bathroom mirror. It had to be tonight. It was Valentine's Day, her girlfriend had taken her to their favorite restaurant (same one they had their first date), and they were celebrating their 5th anniversary. If the engagement didn't happen tonight, WHEN WOULD IT?!? She took a deep breath and sighed. It'd be fine, regardless. Sara was a catch, and she was lucky to have her. She walked back to the table and sat down. Sara glanced up from the table and grinned. 'There's my favorite girl...' She looked down and pursed her lips. 'Look, I know we've been together for a while. And you make me SO HAPPY. So.... ' At this point, she pulled out a small red velvet box. As she opened it, Joan's jaw dropped. An antique gold ring with delicate swirls, surrounding an emerald cut sapphire - the same ring she'd been drooling over at the estate sale a few months ago! OF COURSE. 'Joan, would you do me the honor of making me an honest woman?' Joan choked back a sob and laughed. 'Of course, you dum dum! We'll just have to immediately create a will so I can get EVERYTHING, and gimme a second to take out an insurance policy on you.' She sniffed as Sara slipped the ring on her finger, then pulled her in for the most tender kiss. At that point, the whole room burst out in applause and the waiter walked up with their bread basket.
