Tom Poston was born in 1921 in Ohio and served in World War II in the Air Force. After the war, he worked as an acrobat and boxer before landing a small film role as a detective in 1953. Although Tom would appear in more films in the future, his primary source of work was television. In 1957, he started appearing on the “Steve Allen Show” in the popular ‘Man On The Street’ skits and won his only Emmy in 1959 for that show. After a few seasons on “Mork & Mindy” in the early 80’s, Tom got the part he will always be remembered for, playing handyman George Utley on all 8 seasons of the classic sitcom “Newhart”. Tom continued to work into his 80’s and died in 2007 at the age of 85.
Tom signed this 8x10 inch promotional still from “Newhart” with a black Sharpie. It is in excellent condition except for the fact that it was inscribed ‘To Ron’. The photo comes with a Certificate of Authenticity from Autograph World, co-founder of the UACC and one of the most trusted authentic autograph dealers in the world.
