In 1983, Louis Vuitton began his longtime sponsorship of the America's Cup. The Challenger Selection Series was named after LV and called the Louis Vuitton Cup.
This particular LV Alma handbag carries a piece of SAILING HISTORY. Louis Vuitton created this limited series handbag. They weren't sold in any store or to the public in any manner.
In 2010, the United States boat, called the US17, was part of the BMW Oracle Racing Team USA that won the America's Cup. During the championship banquet for the sailors and their families, these handbags were given to the wives of the sailors who won the America's Cup.
One of the sailor's wives, Mo, used this bag for exactly 1 week. Then, it traveled with the couple as they moved around the USA, promoting the sailing industry. They ended up here in Rhode Island, and I was lucky enough to meet these 2 wonderful people. I became close friends with Mo. She gifted this handbag to me specifically to sell so I could raise money to buy a handicapped accessible van. I'm a T3 paraplegic. I'm paralyzed from the chest down due to a horse jumping accident. Whoever purchases this handbag, I'll send you a picture of myself with my new van!
Measurements are: 12"×10"×3.6".
