Pressed during RCA’s 1980 re-issue program, this blue/black “Nipper” label copy of Best of Styx carries the same Wooden Nickel-era tracks but with the eye-catching cosmic sleeve and new catalog AQL1 3597. RCA had first re-vamped the art a year earlier and kept it for all later runs. Side A kicks off with early hits “You Need Love” and the power-ballad “Lady,” then winds through riffy deep cuts like “Southern Woman”. Side B delivers “Winner Take All,” “Best Thing,” and prog-flavored “Man of Miracles,” showcasing the band’s pre-arena-rock sound.
The disc grades VG on visual/play-test—light sleeve scuffs but no feelable scratches. Jacket is G: a thumb-size bottom peel, edge rub and a spine split (see photos). It’s still a clean player for any classic-rock spinner filling the gap between Crystal Ball and Grand Illusion.
