This is a gorgeous, high quality hand thrown handled vented funnel steam pot with lid, signed (illegibly) by the talented potter. It is in pristine condition, making me question whether it's ever been used. The attention to detail, whether in the construction, or the painting, or the glaze, is amazing. This pot is used in Yunnan style steam cooking, developed in Asia. The pot is filled with your favorite steamable ingredients, then placed over a pot of boiling water - you do not need to add liquid to the ingredients, as the steam funnel will create condensation that then drips onto the pot ingredients, creating its own flavorful broth. The handled pot can then be placed onto a charger or trivet and used as a serving dish. Thus concludes my deep dive into "what the heck is this and how do you use it" today!
