Strange vintage torsade style pink necklace

This necklace is old and I purchased it at an estate sale over 20 years ago. All I can say is it’s very unique for a vintage piece. It’s as if the manufacturer was trying something new with plastics, because this necklace is full of pink diamond shaped beads which are somehow sealed on the pink cording.
