I made this lovely chainmail bracelet in the helm weave, from 18 gauge, 100% Argentium Sterling Silver jump rings, which I make from Argentium wire. The bracelet’s length is 6 3/4" and it contains 38 grams of Argentium Sterling Silver. It has a lobster claw clasp. Chainmail jewelry is made by connecting jump rings one at a time. The process embodies patience, precision, artistry, and most importantly, a love of taking precious metal and beautiful stones, and transforming them into beautiful works of art. A little history about chainmail: The use of chainmail was prominent throughout the Iron and Middle Ages. The earliest artifact of chainmail is a 4th century BC Celtic chieftain's garment. What is Argentium Sterling Silver? Argentium contains 9.6% silver. Standard sterling silver contains 92.5%. That’s why it is sometimes called “925 silver”. All sterling silver contains an alloy, usually copper. British scientists discovered that replacing some of the copper with a germanium alloy, resulted in a dramatic decrease in the rate of oxidation.
