SOLD St Olga of Kiev Art Medal Pendant Black, Topaz, Cream Rosary Bead Necklace

St Olga of Kiev Art Medal vintage image by Mikhail Vasilyevich Nesterov a Russian painter. The image has been downsized and set under glass and in a vintage style frame brass bezel. Medal is 1 1/2” long and 1” wide. The chain is made of brass and black, pearlized cream and topaz colored glass Rosary Beads. A small silver sword cross sits atop the medal. The chain is 8”s or 16”s s end to end. It hangs to 10”s. It has a lobster clasp. Comes gift boxed. Saint Olga of Kyiv is Ukraine’s patron saint of both defiance and vengeance.
 Olga of Kyiv, consort of Igor, second ruler of the Rurikid dynasty, is today recognized as one of Eastern Orthodoxy’s greatest saints. A fierce and proud woman who protected her young son and avenged her husband’s death, she was a crucial figure in the consolidation of the medieval kingdom of Kyivan Rus’ as a political entity and in its peoples’ conversion to Christianity. She is the patron Saint of widows and converts.
