Bacchus bust pendant designed by Spritzer Fuhrmann.
A vintage unusual and sculptural piece from the mid century period, circa 1960's. It was crafted in 18 karats yellow gold and display the Italianate Grotesque portrait face of Bacchus, the ancient god of the wine.
The top part over the head, is decorated with grapes and leaves. The portrait is carved from a single piece of red coral with stunning skills and intricates details.
This piece have a total weight of 17.95 grams and a measures of 35 mm (1.38 inches) by 25 mm (1 inch).

Dionysus, (Bacchus for the Romans), was the god of the grape-harvest, winemaking and wine, of fertility, orchards and fruit, vegetation, insanity, ritual madness, religious ecstasy, festivity and theatre in the ancient Greek culture. The iconographic theme on this sheet refer to the legend of the triumph of Dionysus, or as the Romans called him, Bacchus the god of the grape harvest, winemaking and wine, the son of Zeus and Semele. The Bacchanalia was a religious festival in honor of the wine god, Dionysus.
