A Spanish colonial reliquary with St. Joseph.
A very rare early Spanish colonial large pendant in the shape of a reliquary, created in the Americas back in the late 18th century. It was crafted in three dimensions with gorgeous details in fine filigree and multiples assembled parts made up in solid .900/.999 silver. It is embellished on top with four Colombian emeralds denoting its possible origin. The four sides are decorated with four windows made in thick engraved glass with beveled borders and is fitted on top with a large movable ring to wear in a bold thick chain or possible a rosary. The base is fitted with five stands to be displayed in a small altar or a table.
In the interior of the reliquary, stand a detailed sculpture of the figure of Saint Joseph, bearded, dressed with a toga and holding the child Christ. All made in repousse yellow gold. The gold's alloy is undetermined but we are assuming is a high karat gold because the religious thematic, most probably 22 karats or higher.
