Snail Brooch Vintage Gold-tone Pewter Extended Pin Mechanical Connections
This unique snail brooch is a bit of a mystery; the pin is not signed, but it seems vintage. The sharp end of the pin extends beyond the snail head, as expected for jewelry from the late 1800s to early 1900s. At the same time, the type of clasp wasn't used until the1940s. The assembly is also unusual; the head and body are gold-tone and similar to the size and shape of the Trifari snail, but it is not marked as all Trifari pieces are. The shell is an unfinished metal, possibly pewter or pot metal. The snail body and shell are mechanically connected and the pin assembly clasp looks to be attached to a piece molded on the brooch head where the pin is soldered on the shell. The brooch is unusual; I could not locate another like it. It is beautiful, fashionable, a statement piece, and a must-have for anyone who loves a mystery.
The brooch will be carefully packaged and shipped via USPS Ground Advantage. If you have any questions or need more information, please get in touch with us before placing your bid. We're here to help!
