Slow Fashion and Handmade

Welcome to my closet! A little about myself: I’m a knitter, crocheter, and sew-er. I’ve been knitting since I was 9, the other crafting hobbies followed as I’ve gotten older, and I have always been an advocate for reducing waste. The pics here are all things I’ve made! My closet won’t have tons of items like other Poshers (I try to put my money where my mouth is) but my closet does have a mix of items looking for a better life, items gifted, and handmade items I’ve made. My thrifting fever really took ahold when I was in college at University of Minnesota and was mainly buying thrifted sweaters and unraveling them for their yarn for knitting. Eventually, I kept finding things I’d wear instead of upcycling and it definitely didn’t help that the Goodwill Outlet was a 20 min walk from my dorm! I ended up dropping out of a Pharmacy pathway at the U, moved back home and went to Honolulu Community College’s Fashion program, and now I work with home bedding textiles. The dress and my son’s matching sweater are made from damaged items I’ve upcycled from Goodwill Outlets. I’m currently into knitting Father and Son sets and sewing with upcycled bedding and mattress fabric samples from work!
