For any admirer of midcentury vintage barware or lover of California history, it doesn’t get much cooler than this set of six (6) circa mid-1960s rocks/lowball glasses, each depicting a different iconic California landmark. These were sold by a high-end clothing store called Roos/Atkins that was in its heyday starting in the late 1950s, well into the 1980s. Roos/Atkins produced this set of glasses to commemorate its 100-year anniversary in apx. 1966.
These are crystal clear high quality glass with gold leafed designs and gold rims. This is the full set of six as sold at the time, including: Golden Gate Bridge; California Redwood; Forty Niner Panning for Gold; Half Dome Yosemite; San Francisco Cable Car and State Capital Sacramento. Each measures 4” tall, 3.5” across the rim and 2” at the thick base. These are in mint condition and quite an amazing find, with virtually no visible loss of gold to the rims or designs. They’d be a great gift for the collector in your life (or in you!). Please note: These do not come with the box; it is shown for reference only.
P.S. Thank you to the San Francisco Public Library for the vintage shot of the Roos/Atkins location on Market Street circa 1958.
