veronicac5377 @karmakiduk how is your grandson doing? That's a long drive. I drive 2 hours to OC from my house and its a pain i cant imagine 3 everyday. I hope he's getting better.🙏

karmakiduk @veronicac5377 he is doing better thanks for asking. They took him out of the NICU last night so he is in a regular room which is huge, we won’t know for several months on the brain damage and what the extent of any permanent damage might have been done.

crystaldunnigan @veronicac5377we're in Tehachapi, moved here from Delaware. Wondering if you could recommend a pediatric neurologist. Do you go to CHLA? My son has a traumatic an an acquired brain injury and I need to find a good doc out here.

karmakiduk @crystaldunnigan I am so sorry you are having problems, I know how tough it is, my little grandson was misdiagnosed by the hospital he was born in and we almost lost him, thank god my daughter didn’t give up when they kept telling her not to worry he was normal, she finally got to the right Dr who had him airlifted to CHLA we would have lost him if we listeners to all the doctors she went to for help. He ended up with cerebral palsy because their lack of care,

crystaldunnigan @karmakiduk No worries! 😊 Our son had a stroke in-utero and had serious complications during brain surgery two years later. He's 12 now and in 6th grade here in Tehachapi (private school, the public here is awful!) He's doing great, but we need to get him on the radar for MRI, EEG, etc. We had amazing docs in Delaware which we'd had since the day he was born, and moving across country and finding all new ones is definitely daunting. We're kind of in the middle of CHLA, Loma Linda, and Madera.

crystaldunnigan That's great to know, we were definitely leaning that way. I'm sorry to hear about the complications your daughter had in getting good care. Having a child with special needs will definitely bring out the momma bear in you. I'm glad to hear she fought that fight, but it's always maddening to hear that someone had to fight for it.

karmakiduk @crystaldunnigan thanks, yes it was terrifying he was having major seizures and they kept telling us it was all normal, he also had a stroke and the. Rain bleed. He has defied all odds though and is doing so well now, bless his heart he is such a joy. I want her to sue the hospital if for no other reason so this doesn’t happen to someone else and they may not have such a good outcome that we did. I know Lima Linda is also very good.

crystaldunnigan @karmakiduk Wow! That is terrifying. I know that journey well. If she ever finds herself wanting someone to talk to who's been through it, she can certainly look me up. I'm on Facebook or she can email me. Let me know if she'd be interested in talking someday and I'll give you my info. Sometimes it's nice to have a support group around you who have been there.
