There's a nice sidewall that runs from the ball of your foot all the way around to the vamp, which gives them a more formal presence. And the combination rubber-leather sole makes them a little more comfortable without calling attention to itself. We wear ours to dress up a pair of jeans or calm down a suit. Socks optional.
