This magnificent display plate depicting The United States And the Macedonian was commissioned by the American Legion Auxiliary to commemorate the founding and early exploits of the U.S. Navy. The scene depicted was taken from the Mabel Brady Garvan collection and is No.8 in a series of 12 produced by Shenango CH. Vintage circa 1933 Shenango China commemorative dinner plate. This made of fine vitrified bone white porcelain china. The rim is embossed with a floral and vine motif. Very elegant.
