Hi! I was wondering if this is a tight fitting sweater particularly in the chest and arms, where it might get see through?

I personally don't have any issues with that. There may be some tiny holes in the knit but the sweater is not see thru overall. I can take some measurements across the chest tomorrow in case that is helpful!

The sweater is 17" from armpit to armpit across the chest and 7" along the armpit seam.

This is a used item of clothing, I'm not really sure how many times it's been worn. There may be minor pilling that occurs with all merino wool sweaters. You can use a sweater stone to care for it. There is no discoloration.
