In Photography there is a background called duvetine, it is a black velvet so dark that it sucks up the light of anything near it, making it the perfect black background even when using powerful strobes. This dress is made of a very soft silk like velvet that sucks up the light and makes it almost impossible to photograph the details like the beautifully tailored rusched bodice.
