Tianjin Seagull Watch Group in China acquired the rights to the Venus 175 movement, a Swiss chronograph movement, in the early 1960s. This movement was originally developed by the Swiss watch manufacturer Venus SA, but the company sold its machinery and designs to the Tianjin Watch Factory (which later became Seagull) when it ceased production of the Venus 175. This model is often referred to as the “Chinese Air Force” or “1963 Chronograph” because it was initially designed for Chinese military pilots in the 1960s.
