SUPERB 1940's BL;ACK FELT HAT WITH IRIDESCENT FEATHERS, VEIL AND JEWEL BROOCH

This is an elegant and beautiful black felt hat from the fashionable 40s' It consists of a low, rounded crown surrounded by a brim that is squared off at the front by folding it , then attaching it with a brooch. There are gorgeous iridescent black rooster feathers adorning the hat as seen in the photos, plus a rhinestone brooch. There is also a black grosgrain bow where the feathers emerge. A full veil complements this fashionable look. there is an elastic attached to the inside of the hat to keep it in place. The wartime 40’s saw a huge variety of hats that were suitable for any face shape, hairstyle or personal preference. Throughout the war & on both sides of the Atlantic, elaborate creations brightened dreary utility fashions, brought about by rationing. The only items not rationed were hat materials. Explosions of feathers, veiling & artificial flowers were popular. Label: IRENE This is an authentic piece of fashion history!
