SUMPTUOUS 1940's BLACK WIDE BRIM HAT + BLACK/IVORY TRIM, FEATHERS & STREAMERS

This is a magnificent wide brim hat from the fabulous 40s'! The round, short cap is surrounded by a large wide brim. There are 3 gathers from the underside of the brim, which makes it take a "wavy: shape. The back of the hat has striking details. There are 2 black/ivory felt "calla Lilly flowers" from which sprays of black feathers emerge. Both "flowers" are tied together by a shiny black band that cascades down in long streamers to complete the look. There is an elastic band attached he'd to the inside of the hat to keep it in place. Truly, this is a remarkable hat! The wartime 40’s saw a huge variety of hats that were suitable for any face shape, hairstyle or personal preference. Throughout the war & on both sides of the Atlantic, elaborate creations brightened dreary utility fashions, brought about by rationing. The only items not rationed were hat materials.
