The band members produced and recorded what would be the last Styx album project at Paragon Studios in Chicago. 'Pieces of Eight' is considered by some to be Styx's most obvious concept album ("...to thine own self be true...") as well as the last Styx album with significant progressive rock leanings. It peaked at #6 on the US Billboard 200. The album produced two Top-40 singles on the US Billboard Hot 100 with 'Renegade' reaching #16 and 'Blue Collar Man (Long Nights)' peaking at #21.
